Myers Family of Davie County
John Myers was born about 1756 and fought with the Maryland Continental Line during the American Revolution. After the war and prior to 1790, he moved to the Advance, NC area where he reared a family. He also served with the Second North Carolina Regiment during the War of 1812. For his service during the American Revolution, he applied for a pension (S2892) on November 21, 1832 in Rowan County, NC. He died October 14, 1846 and was married to Esther Armsworthy, daughter of Daniel Armsworthy.

*Previously we stated that Conrad Myers lived to after 1870, but on February 25, 1847, the heirs of John Myers Sr. deceased gave the heirs of Conrad Myers all rights to a tract of land adjacent to Nathaniel Markland. This suggests that Conrad was deceased by that date also. A Margaret Myres age 55 is head of household in Davie County in 1850, with John age 28 and Mary age 30. We believe that this is Margaret Garves Myers.
Sarah (Myers) Peck, age 57 in the 1850 Davie County Census is living with her brother John Myers (HOH), age 49.

Previously we showed John Giles Myers with only one wife - Elizabeth Snider whose death date was shown as 1913. We now believe that "Elizabeth Snider" was indeed Sophia Elizabeth Snider, a daughter of Lewis Snider and his wife Eliza. In November, 1881 John Giles married Martha J. Wall in Davie County, NC. If anyone has the correct death date for Sophia Elizabeth or where she is buried, please contact us.

Edd Cornard Myers and his brother Tilden Ray Myers passed away, Edd on June 27, 2000 and Ray on Jan. 3, 2001. They are the last of the George Valentine Myers and Louise (Lou) Burton children. Edd helped very much with the Myers information found on this page.
