Built c. 1789 by Jacob Sheek, son of Johan Adam Schick and Susanna Moulder, the original house was 2 rooms with a detached kitchen. Family tradition suggests that Daniel Sain Sheek, son of Jacob Sheek, added a second story, kitchen and dining room as his family grew. This was the residence of four generations of Davie Co. Sheeks including Jacob, Daniel Sain, John Wiley, and Harry Ganzalo Sheek. Located off Highway 158 in Smith Grove, the house is now owned by a sixth generation member of the Jacob Sheek family. -- BEZIM@aol.com
