James Jarvis, son of William Jarvis

James Jarvis was the son of William Jarvis and Emily Reich. He was nicknamed "Ploughboy" Jarvis but was described as being a widely read man and something of a thinker. He contributed articles for many years to the Union Republic, a Republican Magazine.

He also developed a new hybred corn and called it "Jarvis prolific." In his religious beliefs, he was a free thinker. James Jarvis lived most of his life on his farm located on Jonestown Road.
