Will of John Jarvis

"I John Jarvis of the County of Wilkes and State of North Carolina being weak
in body but of sound mind and memory being mindful that it is appointed for
all men to die, I therefore make and appoint this my last will and Testament
in the following manner and form viz. first of all I give and bequeath to my
beloved wife Sarah Jarvis all my property during her natural life and
widowhood land and plantation and stock of every kind given to her the power
to dispose of my property among my children as she may see proper when they
leave her or at her death or marriage I allow my property to be equally
divided among them all after having them that is here at home that amount
married have as much as them had that is married of my property Linza Jarvis,
Wilie Jarvis, Levi Jarvis, Chambers Jarvis and then for every thing of my
property to be equally divided among them all of my children and wife James
Jarvis Nancy Kemp J N Jarvis Wm Jarvis Noah Jarvis Linza Jarvis Wilie Jarvis
Levi Jarvis Chambers Jarvis I appoint my beloved wife and John N. Jarvis to
be my executrix and executor of this my last will and testament in witness
whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this the 24th of January 1847."
Witnesses were Wm Jarvis, Noah Jarvis, and Billy Chambers.
The will was entered into the book and the testators Billy Chambers and
William Jarvis appeared before the clerk to prove the will in the February
term of 1858.
