His will, written November 1823 and probated March term 1824, names wife Elizabeth and the children listed below. Elizabeth's maiden name is given as George in a family history, but we don't know who her parents were.
----------
Children of Gabriel Henning and Christina Aust
Delilah Henning (1833-1904) m. 1) Richard Nathaniel Styers (ca. 1836-?), 2) Edward T. Henning (1835-1904) - presumably a cousin, but who were his parents?
Julia Henning (ca. 1837-?). Did she marry John Ervin Shore?
Rebecca Catherine Henning (1837-1873) m. Timothy Boose (1832-1903)
Lauretta Henning (ca. 1840?)
Children of Gabriel Henning and Celia Barber
Fanny Henning (ca. 1843-?)
Clementine Henning (ca. 1846-?)
----------
The Bennett gedcom (see Sources) names Elizabeth Henning (1819-1846) as John Adam and Elizabeth's last child. She is not named in the abstract of his will (Stokes Co. NC wills, Mrs. W.O. Absher). The abstract mentions that wife Elizabeth is to remain in the house and Plantation until the youngest son Gabriel becomes of age. While this doesn't exclude a daughter who is younger yet, we suspect that Elizabeth born 1819 is a granddaughter rather than daughter. Could she be the daughter of of John Adam's deceased daughter Catherine? Elizabeth did not marry but was reportedly the mother of three children. She died of burns suffered when her dress caught fire. The diary of Methodist ministers Michael and Peter Doub records that her funeral sermon was preached with the title "Repent lest ye likewise perish". We are putting Elizabeth's children in the next generation.
Delilah also had two daughters from her first marriage, Martha Ophelia Styers and Mary S. Styers.

Children of Elizabeth Henning
Levina Henning (ca. 1842-?)
William Henning
Carrie May Henning
Levina is living with her uncle William Henning in 1850-1880. She was the mother of a daughter, Annie Elizabeth Henning (1871-1924) who married Houston James Tucker (1877-1927). Annie is reported to have had three children out of wedlock prior to this marriage.
