Daniel died intestate on February 12, 1842. Estate papers in the NC state archives indicate that a year's provision was requested for his widow Nancy, who was left "with a large family unprovided for". In the 1850 Forsyth county census, Nancy is listed as age 57, suggesting birth about 1793. She survived through the 1870 census, where she is listed as age 80.
