Johannes Long
First Generation
Johannes Lang arrived in America in 1733 on the Charming Betsy, with his son John. In 1758 he received a land grant in the Abbotts Creek area of Rowan County (now northeastern Davidson or southeastern Forsyth County). One family history (Craver, see below) names his wife as Anna. This history is probably in error however in attributing the children listed in the second generation here to Johannes Sr., who is far too old to be their father. They are presumably instead the children of Johannes or John Jr. and his wife Elizabeth, who married Felix Motsinger as her second husband in 1790. Felix Motsinger's will refers to Susannah, John, Jacob and Frederick Long, children of John Long and Elizabeth. We are assuming here that Elizabeth is the mother of all the children.

In 1870 the widowed Sarah Long is living with her father and her daughter Mary Elizabeth, age 8. Eliza Long, age 9, is living with Eliza Reich Hampton, Sarah's sister, and her husband Benjamin Hampton. In 1874, Sarah Long married Josiah Brewer. They don't appear to be in Forsyth County in 1880.
