Feiser Family

First Generation

John Feiser was born in 1716 in Germany. We don't know when he came to America, or when he married his first wife, Christina Schneider. Their son Peter Feiser is said to have been born in 1743 in New Jersey. Other records associate the family with York PA.

Christina died in 1753, and John married Elisabeth Schlatter (1723-1800) in the same year. She was a native of Hohmannthal, Canton Schaffhausen, Switzerland. John Feiser died in 1781. Elisabeth outlived him, dying in York PA in 1800.

Peter Feiser was reportedly born in New Jersey but other records associate him with York PA. He came to North Carolina in 1769 from Pennsylvania, and settled in Bethania, where he married Anna Maria Frey and joined the Moravian congregation.

The Moravian diaries for the 1770s and 1780s mention that he made trips back to Pennsylvania, apparently as a wagon-driver for supplies, mail etc. Anna Maria died while he was away on one of these trips. In 1786 he married Anna Margaretha Moser, widow of Heinrich Demuth. They eventually moved to Tennessee.
