Brietz Family

First Generation

Christian Brietz (1772-1845), born in Mulknitz, Brandenburg, Prussia, came to America in December 1805, and shortly thereafter traveled from Pennsylvania to North Carolina, to become the tanner at Salem. He is referred to in the Moravian records as a widower at the time of his arrival, but we don't know his first wife's name. In 1807 he married Anna Catharina Seiler in Salem.

James Frederick is not named in his mother's will (1849) and we can't find him in the 1850 Forsyth Co. census. Did he die young?

Lizzie Brietz was living with her Aunt Lucinda Bagge in 1850, Forsyth County Census.
